Call for papers: Semiosis in Communication - Knowing and Learning, Bucharest, June 16 - 18, 2016

We invite semioticians, communication scholars, researchers and their colleagues in the humanities and the social sciences to contribute papers (CFP) that address the theme of semiosis in communication, from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. The conference welcomes contributions from other areas of research in semiotics, communication and related domains.

Papers accepted to this conference can be presented either within one of the two panels, or in the open sessions. The two panels hosted by Semiosis in Communication: Knowing and Learning are the following:

  • Semiotics and communication
  • The communication of knowledge: education and beyond

Paper submission

Applications for presentations consist in only one document:

  • Title and abstract (max. 300 words followed by 3-5 keywords) with short and relevant bionote (do not exceed 150 words, please) in MS Word format (.doc, .docx). We highly appreciate short, schematic texts.
  • Please use the abstract template available below (Abstract_Template.doc)

Co-authored papers are welcome.
Papers are delivered in 30 minutes presentations (20 minutes talk followed by 10 minutes of debate).
Please, submit your proposal for the panels Semiotics and communication and The communication of knowledge: education and beyond to within 8th of April 2016.
Only one paper for each participant (as a first author) will be accepted.
The official language of the conference is English.
The authors will receive confirmation via e-mail.
