Julia Twigg is Professor of Social Policy and Sociology at the University of Kent, UK. She has written widely on age and embodiment, recently focusing on the role of dress in the cultural constitution of age. In 2014 she published Fashion and Age: Dress, the Body and Later Life which explored the lives of older women through the medium of dress. With Christine Buse, she has extended the analysis to people with dementia, exploring the continuing role of dress in their lives.Her earlier work theorized the nature of carework as bodywork.
